At UOB Kay Hian, we want to be more than just your broker. Our job is to protect and grow your wealth in today’s complex and fast changing environment. That’s why we’ve created the CIO Series to discuss and understand how the world is evolving, and what the big changes mean to your investments.

What is the CIO Series?

A regular webinar with our CIO and distinguished guest speakers to discuss macros, sectors and stocks, including long-term investment themes as well as short-term trading ideas. The presentation will be followed by Q&A.

Synopsis

What happens if China reignites as the world’s growth engine? The rest of Asia could be the primary beneficiary, due to its close economic ties with China. Since 2020, ASEAN has become China’s largest trading partner, surpassing both the EU and the US. We believe there are undervalued investment opportunities in both China and Asia for a potential China recovery. For this CIO Series, we’ve invited Dan Kiang, founder and CIO of the Aqua Lake Fund, to share his institutional views of China and his best investment ideas for the region.

About Aqua Lake

Aqua Lake is a Hong Kong-based hedge fund, running a fundamental long-short strategy focused on Asia. The fund takes a research-driven, high conviction approach to pick stocks, targeting 15-20% annualized return. The fund is founded by Dan Kiang and Ken Ngo, each with over 20 years of experience working for large institutional investors and investing in Asia.

About Dan Kiang

Prior to founding Aqua Lake, Dan Kiang was Senior Managing Director and Head of Asia Public Equity for Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan (OTPP), a leading Canadian pension fund with $248 billion of assets under management. Dan personally managed over $1.5 billion of assets for OTTP in Asia, and was a member of the Global Investment Committee responsible for $12 billion of the firm’s money. Prior to OTTP, Dan worked in senior roles for several prestigious institutional investors, including Mount Kellett (a $7 billion hedge fund), Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Asian Special Situations Group) and TVG Capital Partners (later JP Morgan Direct Investment Group), all based in Hong Kong.
